Bastille, Arctic Monkeys lead UK album chart with huge BRITs sales bumps [VIDEO]

Some real old records topped the UK album charts this week, all thanks to the 2014 BRIT Awards. Bastille's March 2013 album Bad Blood launched up the charts to return to the No. 1 spot, all thanks to the award show.

According to Official Charts Company, Bastille's Best Breakthrough Act win and performance of "Waiting All Night" helped to boost the group's sales by 132 percent overnight. Though that launched them from No. 10 to No. 2 in a matter of hours, the forward momentum gave them a return to the top spot, beating out albums by Nina Nesbitt, Arctic Monkeys and Ellie Goulding.

Of course, Arctic Monkeys, who took home Album Of The Year and Best British Group and performed "R U Mine" saw a similar nine-spot boost in sales, with AM skyrocketing back to No. 2.

The top five spots of the UK album charts were clearly influenced by the BRITS. Disclosure, who failed to win any BRITs but performed with Lorde, launched up to No. 3, Best British Female and UK chart mainstay Ellie Goulding slipped two spots to No. 4 and Best British Single winners Rudimental rose 14 spots to land at No. 5.

And you thought the Grammys had musical sway...

The UK singles chart had less BRIT influence, with Sam Smith's "Money On My Mind" debuting at No. 1, followed by former chart-topper Pharrell Williams with "Happy."
