Nicki Minaj brought out Lil Wayne, her Young Money labelmate, last night (July 27) during her “Pinkprint” show in Brooklyn.
The Barclays Center had already played witness to the latest chapter in the unraveling Meek Mill vs. Drake beef, as Nicki's opener and significant other called Drake's diss track "baby lotion soft" earlier in the show. The drama soon took a backseat, though, when Minaj brought out another Young Money star, Lil Wayne.
Weezy entered the stage to the opening chords to "Loyal," his smash hit with Chris Brown and Tyga. He then treated the ecstatic crowd to "Glory" from his recent TIDAL-released "Free Weezy Album," along with past hits like "A Milli" and "6 Foot 7 Foot." You can check out footage from his surprise appearance below.
During his performance, Nicki bowed to Wayne, the man who discovered her, and called him “the best rapper alive.”
“I would agree with her, but there is a certain person named Nicki Minaj kicking my ass right now,” Weezy added before segueing into “A Milli.” It looks like Weezy and Barbie are still holding it down for Young Money. Do you think Drake's still part of the team?
Nicki hadn't yet entered the beef that involves both her current boyfriend as well as her YMCMB labelmate and frequent collaborator. (Neither has Wayne). She was, however, subliminally referenced on Drake's "Charged Up." Last night, the "Anaconda" rapper voiced her own thoughts on the subject of ghostwriting: "Y'all don't even know how to pronounce the motherf***ing words in my mother***ing rap, b**ch."
Do you think she'll get further involved?
The "Pinkprint" tour hits Canada tomorrow, July 28. First stop: Drake's hometown of Toronto...that should be interesting. Will Meek get booed in Toronto, or "the 6," as Drake calls it?
In addition to Meek Mill, Nicki's tour includes Tinashe, Dej Loaf and Rae Sremmurd.
