'Let it Go' wins Best Original Song at Oscars 2014, beating out U2, Pharrell Williams & Karen O [VIDEO]

Queen Elsa continues her musical reign. On Sunday night (March 2), the signature song from the new Disney animated classic Frozen took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song, beating out songs from some of music's most prolific artists.

Husband/wife songwriting team Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez accepted the trophy for Best Original song mere moments after singer Idina Menzel stormed the stage with a stunning performance of "Let It Go," making the moment all the more special for the couple.

"Let It Go" beat out submissions from U2 ("Ordinary Love," Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom), Karen O & Spike Jonze ("The Moon Song," Her) and Pharrell Williams ("Happy," Despicable Me 2).

A favorite for the win, "Let It Go" comes at the pinnacle point of Frozen, when Queen Elsa escapes to the top of a mountain and builds herself a massive ice castle in order to live free from society's judgment.

Oh, and fun fact: this Oscar helped Robert Lopez achieve the massive showbiz achievement of "EGOTting," that is: winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award.
