Keith Richards Releases "Substantial Damage" and "Amnesia" From 'Crosseyed Heart' [LISTEN]

With less than a month until the release of Cosseyed Heart, the first solo album from Keith Richards in 20 years, The Rolling Stones guitarist has dropped two more songs - "Substantial Damage" and "Amnesia" - ahead of the official September 18 release date.

"Amnesia" opens with a mumbling Richards stammering, "I ain't gonna do nothing, I'm just sitting here, just waiting until this s**t kicks in," before ripping into a classic Richards' riff that sounds like the Stones of old.

"Substantial Damage" is more upbeat than the laid-back riff of "Amnesia." The peppy high hat rides smoothly over a slide guitar part that drives the song. It's the kind of song you can imagine Richards having lot of fun jamming to in an old Southern dive bar. Then again, I always imagine Richards in some smoky biker bar.

The lead single "Trouble" was released earlier this year accompanied by a music video of the studio jam session. With all of these songs it's impossible not to fall in love with Richards' sheer joy of life and the pirate tinged smile of a degenerate who made it farther in life than any of us, or even he, ever thought possible.

These two new singles come about after an official scavenger hunt was issued on keithrichards.com prompting fans to search for plaques hidden in different places related to Richards' English Heritage. Once a plaque is found, you only need to stand near it, go to crosseyedheart.com with your location settings on and type in the password found on the plaque to get an early listen to the track. Oh, but you have to be in England so U.S. fans are out of luck with that hunt. You can hear the two singles below in the US now though.

"Amnesia" and "Substantial Damage" were the first tracks to be found with two more to be released Sunday Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 respectively.

The album has an expansive 15 tracks with Norah Jones and members of Richard's X-Pensive Winos band as collaborators. Listen to the new songs below.
