Miley Cyrus's new experimental release, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, has an unexpected fan, and it got a surprise shout out on Twitter from John Mayer. This past Sunday (Oct. 4) the blues guitarist and seems to be absolutely enamored with her new musical experimentations.
"I'm totally transfixed by this Miley Cyrus album," he tweeted according to Billboard. He also posted a quote pulled from the album itself, "We never get to see ourselves sleeping peacefully next to the ones we love," off the track "Lighter."
"This is why I love music," he continued, "You can be one artist and the next discover some crazy light inside yourself and shine it everywhere."
He further said, "This Miley album is amazing. You can't try to make something like this. You just tap the vein and don't question a single instinct."
"Self control/ is / not something I'm working on,' sung heroically and melodically. Come. On," the guitarist shared. This tweet was based on the track "Scorpion" off of Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, which may well be a favorite of John Mayer's.
Perhaps realizing it was a bit over the top he finished his run with, "Okay. I'll stop tweeting about it now. Comes down to this: This is a masterwork of whack genius. #whackgenius."
Cyrus released her debut mixtape as a surprise to her label and the audience at the end of her performance of "Dooo It" when she hosted the 2015 VMA's in August. The singer had it ready for free online streaming as of the end of that month (Aug. 30) People reported. Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz is a mix of experimental pop and psychedelia and was released on her independent Smiley Miley record label without the support of her larger label.
