Alejandro Ghersi, known to many as Arca, has unveiled the details for his new album Mutant. The album is a quick followup to his 2014 official debut Xen. In addition to unveiling the tracklist, release date and cover art for Mutant, the Venezuelan producer also shared the music video to the album track "EN."
The album is a logical followup to his 2014 full-length Xen. Whereas Xen was a much more inward focusing LP, touching on more personal subjects, this looks outward to find inspiration around the London-based artist.
Speaking on the LP in a statement, Arca explains the inspiration behind the album and what personal reservoir he drew from when creating this album.
"Mutant is about sensuality and impulsiveness as escape routes out of rigidity. Softness as a weapon when the mind attacks itself."
Arca has unveiled the music video for "EN," which features Arca in focus doing various dance seductive dance moves in leather at an odd camera angle.
"EN" was featured on the previously released score for the Sheep, an 11-song musical collection he performed at streetwear label Hood By Air's show in Italy earlier in the year acording to Pitchfork. It also included other tracks including "Umbilical," "Else" and "Immortal," which features a sample from Bjork's "Enjoy."
In addition to the previously mentioned tracks on the Sheep soundtrack, Arca also released "Vanity" and "Soichiro" as loose singles.
Mutant will be released on Nov. 20 through his label home Mute Records. Check out the complete tracklist below.
