Tori Kelly is back with a brand new single. After winning over the masses with her debut album Unbreakable Smile and singles "Nobody Love" and "Should Have Been Us," on Thursday (Oct. 22), the quickly rising pop star releases the piano-led emotional track "Hollow."
Set to a mid-tempo piano beat, "Hollow" kicks off with a slow build, and Kelly's always-strong vocals are the main power behind the track, just dripping with vulnerability. As the song builds, snaps, drums and electronic instruments are added to the mix, giving "Hollow" a filling build, which swells alongside Kelly.
If "Hollow" sounds a bit like an emotional rollercoaster, that's because it is. The song is about finding that certain someone that helps to fill the void within you.
"I'm fragile and you know this / So hold me, wrap me in love/ Fill up my cup / Empty, and only your love could fill up my cup / Because I'm hollow," she sings in the chorus. Using a series of runs, Kelly emphasizes her need for someone in this song. And haven't we all been there?
"Hollow" is available now on iTunes.
The track follows a successful 2015 for Kelly. Surrounding the release of her debut album Unbreakable Smile, Kelly had a round of breakout performances at the Billboard Music Awards and MTV VMAs. Kelly will round out the year with a performance at the MTV EMAs and by wrapping up her North American tour.
