Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" is still looming near the top of the Billboard charts, but that doesn't mean the 29-year-old pop star isn't looking for something new to celebrate. Earlier this week, she announced the new single from Prism alongside it's #ThrowbackThursday cover art.
According to Perry's Twitter on April 3, the follow-up to "Roar," "Unconditionally" and "Dark Horse" will be the party-friendly Prism track "Birthday."
Perry introduced the cover artwork alongside the single announcement on Thursday, playing into that ever-popular #TBT tag. "In honor of #TBT may I present the cover of my NEXXXT single. BIRTHDAY," she wrote alongside a pixelated image, soon to be revealed as an old birthday party pic from Perry's childhood.
Featuring a youthful Perry and her older sister, Angela Hudson, the image features some now cringe-worthy floral print dresses, big ol' hair bows and, of course, a birthday cake. To help bring the image into 2014, some "KATY PERRY" balloons and Photoshopped "Birthday" candles were added to the image.

The announcement of "Birthday" as Perry's fourth Prism single should come as no real surprise. Though much of her third studio album is filled with ballads, when she released "Unconditionally" as a single in mid-October, the track largely failed to gain a large amount of traction. It was eventually pushed aside for the trappy "Dark Horse" (feat. Juicy J), which eventually spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
So, sticking with the sickly infectious pop is a smart choice for Perry and her camp.
