Lady Gaga, also known as Stefani Germanotta and Taylor Kinney's fiance, told all at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, admitting her reasons for recently wanting to stop making music and why fame is an ugly monster.
In the midst of the talk, Gaga detailed how she considered leaving the music industry a few years ago because she felt that her true self and creativity were being compromised. Through her own inspiring words, she taught the audience a quick lesson on self-fulfillment and acceptance. Celebrity comes with a brand--aside from making music, artists must plaster their faces all over town and have a strong media presence, to which Gaga referred to as being a "moneymaking machine," as MTV News notes.
"I don't like being used to make people money," she explained. "I feel sad when I am overworked and that I just become a moneymaking machine and that my passion and my creativity takes a backseat - that makes me unhappy."

Taking endless selfies and selling mindless fragrances were just a few things added to Gaga's monotonous schedule that took away from her self importance. From those experiences, she realized that she had to speak up in order to get what she wants and say no to the things she doesn't want.
"So what did I do? I started to say no," the "Born This Way" singer said. "I'm not doing that. I don't want to do that. I'm not taking that picture. I'm not going to that event. I'm not standing by that because that's not what I stand for, and slowly but surely I remembered who I am."
Taking a stand for herself and pursuing her haunting role as hotel owner in Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: Hotel allowed the artist to feel proud and at peace with her decisions. "You go home and you look in the mirror and you're like, 'Yes. I can go to bed with you...every night,'" she said. "'Cause that person? I know that person. That person has balls. That person has integrity. That person has an opinion. That person just doesn't say yes."
