Rebel Wilson made a name for herself in Hollywood after starring in the hit sing-a-long film Pitch Perfect, as well as the movie's sequel, Pitch Perfect 2. Acting and singing are just a couple of talents the Australian native possesses, and now she's adding clothing designer to her list. Wilson's highly anticipated plus-size line for Torrid is finally here and she's ready its debut.
The 35-year-old comedian collaborated with Torrid, a brand focused on bringing fun styles to sizes 12-28, to create a 31-piece capsule collection called Rebel. Inspired by her fans, Wilson is looking to give women and young adults a taste of her eclectic style.
"I just was always the kind of person who cared what was on the inside," Wilson told PeopleStyle last month. "I'm a person who uses my brain; it's not really about my personal aesthetic. But then I realized that if girls can see me standing next to really skinny actresses holding my own and being really confident in how I look, then that's a good message to send."
Wilson, who wears a size 18 or sometimes a size 16 depending on the cut, was on a mission to help offer plus-size women a chance to broaden their fashion choices. Believing the clothes currently offered to plus-size women look like something "your auntie would wear to a wedding," Wilson wants women to feel sexy and comfortable in trendy clothing.
Despite introducing a new fashion collection to the world, the 2013 MTV Movie Awards host doesn't consider herself a style icon in any sorts. Admitting she'd wear anything that would zip up on her body, Wilson turned to celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart to "class up" her image.
"It takes a little while, but then you realize what looks nice and what kind of little risks you can take without being too crazy but still showing a bit of your personality," said Wilson to PeopleStyle.
The limited edition line features unique tee shirts, faux leather leggings and skirts, dresses for both work and play, jewelry, beanies, Letterman jackets and more.
Rebel Wilson's Rebel for Torrid collection hit stores on Sunday (Nov. 1).
