The Black Keys' eighth studio album, Turn Blue, is due out May 12. The duo has already dropped their first single, "Fever," and in a recent interview with NME, they revealed that the 11-track effort will feature both their longest song yet and their first foray into sampling.
On the song "Year in Review," drummer Patrick Carney says that they were inspired by the spaghetti-western work of Italian movie soundtrack composer and singer Nico Fidenco. "The first song we've ever used a sample on," he told them. As for their longest song ever, the opener "Weight of Love," clocks in at seven minutes. "I've never done a guitar solo like that," Dan Auerbach said.
The upcoming album, produced with Danger Mouse, is the band's most highly anticipated album, following 2011's Grammy-nominated, chart-topping El Camino. Auerbach reveals that he only left the studio once during the two-week session at Sunset Sound in Hollywood last summer.
