After the surprise announcement yesterday, Rustie has released his brand new album EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE via his label home Warp Records. The Glaswegian producer dropped the big news yesterday after releasing two tracks, "First Mythz" and "Peace Upzzz."
The LP comes in at 15 tracks total with no features at all. It takes a deep dive into the more instrumental sound that Rustie possesses, leaving behind the hard-hitting trap club bangers that he is known to put out in favor of more melodic songs. EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE has remarkable continuity from start to finish for an instrumental album, which many producers can find challenging to find that middle ground between not creating the same song 10-15 times and crafting a clear line from the first track to the last track.
The album is totally devoid of features, except for Rustie featured on some of his own tracks. If you were hankering for some Rustie, this is double and triple dose of the Glaswegian producer who has been hard at work in the lab cooking up some sparkling, cheerful and tough beats.
The rollout for this album was a bit different from what Rustie has done in the past, notably his latest Green Valley that had some pretty big features like Danny Brown. EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE was done with no promo, just the element of surprise to galvanize his strong fan base, whereas in the past he has gone the more traditional route with big media and promo pushes for singles and albums. There appears to be a fair amount of hype surrounding this project right now, so we will see how it works.
