Stephen Colbert taking over 'Late Show' after David Letterman's retirement in 2015

Just a few days after Late Show host David Letterman announced his retirement for 2015, CBS has named his replacement. After rumors swirled the Internet, The Colbert Report funnyman Stephen Colbert has been named as the newest guy in the network late night talk show game.

According to USA Today, CBS made the official announcement this afternoon (April 10).

On The Colbert Report, Colbert has been a notably friendly host to musicians. In the past, he’s had Radiohead, Jack White, Morrissey, Grizzly Bear and Paul McCartney on as guests, amongst other acts.

Colbert also has hosted StePhest Colbchella in 2012, with Flaming Lips as the headliner. Last year, after promising to have Daft Punk on as the 2013 Colbchella guests, he instead replaced “Get Lucky” with Robin Thick and “Blurred Lines” after Daft Punk mysteriously pulled out for the MTV VMAs.
