It is almost rumor season for which artists will appear on the Coachella lineup, but one artist has taken it upon themselves to remove all of the guesswork and share info directly to the fans. In a new interview, Nile Rodgers, potentially accidentally, revealed that Chic was going to be performing at Coachella 2016 for the first time ever.
In a new interview with the New York Times, Rodgers sits down the paper to discuss his career success until now, writing and producing some of the biggest records for acts like Madonna, David Bowie, Chic, Sister Sledge and of course "Get Lucky" with Daft Punk and Pharrell. Now he has been a hot name for EDM acts like Nervo and David Guetta to get in the studio with, as the 64-year-old has rejuvenated his career into one of the more in demand hitmakers for artists of all genres.
He is also helping to score High Jackman's new one-man show.
The booking of Rodgers and Chic would suggest that the group's album It's About Time would arrive sometime before the festival. No official date has been announced, though it would be hard to imagine the band going into a performance as big as this without a whole host of new music to showcase. Coachella runs in April 2016 the weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24. Names are constantly being floating out there as potential performers at this year's festival, but one of the more popular bands has been a potential reunion show by LCD Soundsystem.
Chic was recently nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the 10th time.
