Flaming Lips, Glenn Danzig, Louis C.K. and More Appearing on 'Portlandia' Season 6

Portlandia is scheduled to return for its sixth season, and today, Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen have announced the full roster of guests that will be joining them on the IFC sketch comedy show including Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips as well as comedian Louis C.K. (among others). The new season will premiere January 21 on IFC.

As Pitchfork points out, this star-studded guest list follows this summer's announcement that punk rocker Glenn Danzig will be appearing on a forthcoming episode. If Brownstein's Instagram photo featuring herself and Armisen rocking goth swimwear with Danzig is any indication of what to expect from the former Misfits frontman's comic cameo, fans can likely expect to watch a thrash metal-inspired scene at the beach.

Other guests appearing on the show include: Jillian Bell from Workaholics, Mitchell Hurwitz and Alia Shawkat from Arrested Development, Gregory Gourdet from Top Chef, Moshe Kasher from Another Period, Zoe Kravitz of Dope and Mad Max, John Levenstein from The Kroll Show, Bitsie Tulloch from Grimm and SNL's Robert Smigel. Returning guest stars include Orange is the New Black's Natasha Lyonne and Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani. Steve Buscemi will also be returning for another cameo.

As Brooklyn Vegan reports, Carrie Brownstein has been particularly busy lately: her new memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, is out now and she's also touring with Sleater Kinney. Meanwhile Fred Armisen has been busy with his other IFC series Documentary Now as well as his role as bandleader with 8G, the house band on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

The musicians slated to appear in the forthcoming season of Portlandia have also been especially busy with various projects. Danzig's cover album, Skeletons, is due out November 27th. The Flaming Lips are also embarking on their tour with Miley Cyrus as the Dead Pets, with Dan Deacon opening. They are also releasing a Christmas single with Yoko Ono.

You can rewatch the first five seasons of Portlandia on Netflix. Check out Brownstein and Armisen's favorite moments from the show thus far, below.
