Earlier this month, Tool announced that it would be returning to the touring circuit in January 2016 with a new round of live shows for its dedicated, patient fanbase. And, on Tuesday (Nov. 17), the "Vicarious" rockers revealed its first round of tour dates.
Tool's 2016 tour will begin on Jan. 9 in San Diego, Rolling Stone reports. As of now, Tool has only announced eight tour dates, mostly in the southern United States. Other cities on the short string of live shows include Tulsa, Nashville, Atlanta and Charlotte, where the gigs wrap up on Jan. 26.
Tool 2016 Tour Dates:
01/09: San Diego, CA @ Viejas Arena
01/13: San Antonio, TX @ AT&T Center
01/16: Tulsa, OK @ BOK Center
01/17: Grand Prairie, TX @ Verizon Theatre
01/19: Southave, MS @ Landers Center
01/23: Nashville, TN @ Bridgestone Arena
01/25: Atlanta, GA @ Infinite Energy Center
01/26: Charlotte, NC @ Bojangles Coliseum
Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, Nov. 20.
Fans who get to see Tool in 2016 are seemingly in for a treat. When the band first announced its live intentions last week, it teased that it will be a "sonic and visual extravaganza," featuring massive heptagrams, black glass, extravagant stage lighting and "dramatic video projections."
Despite Tool's 2016 tour, the band has yet to make any new headway on a new album. Tool's last studio effort 10,000 Days was released in May 2006. The band has been recording a new album since 2010, but has been entangled in a series of legal battles and family commitments that have made its release heavily delayed.
