In a new interview on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show, Axwell, formerly of Swedish House Mafia, talks a potential reunion of the EDM trio. He was actually on the show to officially premiere his new song "Waiting for So Long (Gloria)" but was steered in the direction of a possible reunion by the host, to which he simply started with "Of course."
"I think we think about it every now and then, you know what we left, what we did, what we accomplished and everything, and how it would be to do something together again," Axwell said to Lowe, "But I think that the only thing is that time will tell, pretty much. But like you said, we've been blessed to be riding this wave, just ahead of the wave for some time, so you know we are able to do exactly what we want, which is a blessing."
He continued with, "You know this song we just played, it was just like no thoughts, no need, no nothing, just music. Who knows what happens in the future, we might get a sudden urge to Swedish House Mafia it up again, who knows."
This past winter, Axwell announced that he was opening his own restaurant with Grant Smillie entitled E.P. & L.P. in a nod to both of their careers as DJs and producers. The restaurant was described as Asian fusion with sprinklings of Fijian, Korean, Indonesian and Malaysian cultural dishes. He reportedly used funds from his time in Swedish House Mafia to become an investor and opened E.P. & L.P. in late February with David Comes and Grant Smillie.
In addition to the restaurant he formed the duo Axwell / Ingrosso with Sebastian Ingrosso following Swedish House Mafia and they began working on an album together. Their single "Something New" was subsequently featured in recent Beats commercials.
