Taylor Swift New Zealand Video Shoot Accused of Risking Endangered Bird Nests & Babies

Looks like Taylor Swift is prepping for a new music video, but of course that doesn't come without bringing some drama. In the midst of the "Bad Blood" singer's lawsuit troubles, animal activists have been blaming Swift and her filming crew for risking crushing an endangered bird species' nests and possibly baby birds on New Zealand's Bethells Beach.

After driving too many production vehicles across the beach, animal lovers decided to take action to protect the habitat of endangered baby dotterels. Waitakere Ranges local board chair Sandra Coney explained to RadioNZ that there are 1,700 dotterels remaining near Auckland, New Zealand with only two breeding pairs.

Cherokee Films were cleared to have two vehicles up on the sand, however, up to a dozen vans were spotted during production, raising a red flag. The more vehicles there were, the more the nests would be disturbed and possibly even crushed. Coney further explained that they're looking into whether or not any rules were broken during shooting.

"Cherokee Films were filming at Bethells Beach on Monday 23rd November where a base camp was set up on private land which allowed for access to the beach. We had permission from the landowners and paid a fee for use of the land." Cherokee Films said in a statement, NY Daily News notes. "At no time were the film crew close to that habitat. No dotterel were harmed."

"In acknowledgement of the concern this has added to those in charge of protecting local dotterel population Cherokee Films will make a donation to the breeding program as we support your concerns. Cherokee Films is working with Screen Auckland to resolve this issue."

It's no surprise that the "Shake it Off" singer will also resort to making a donation to the cause, as NY Daily News notes, seeing as how Swift is one of the most philanthropic celebrities when it comes to charities and her fans. Swift recently caught backlash after her video for 1989's "Wildest Dreams" was seen as portraying an "African Colonial Fantasy."
