After two weeks on the top of the charts in the UK, Kaiser Chiefs have finally been overthrown. Paolo Nutini's new effort, Caustic Love, is the new No. 1 album across the pond and the Scottish singer-songwriter took things over in a blaze of glory.
According to Official Charts Company, Caustic Love is the fastest-selling album in Britain thus far in 2014. In its first seven days, the record sold 109,000 copies, easily surpassing Sam Bailey's The Power Of Love, which moved 73,000 units during its debuting week.
The No. 1 spot is a comfortable place for Nutini. His 2009 album Sunny Side Up also debuted at the top of the charts. His critically-acclaimed debut, These Streets, peaked at No. 3 in the UK.
Here in the US, Nutini's highest Billboard charting rank is No. 48 with These Streets.
The last two weeks in the UK have been dominated by the Kaiser Chiefs' new album, Education, Education, Education & War. This week, the Ricky Wilson-fronted effort slipped down four spots to No. 5.
Between those two Nos. 1, The Vamps debuted at No. 2 with Meet The Vamps. UK familiars Paloma Faith and John Legend follow the poppy boy band at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
George Michael's Symphonica, Elbow's The Take Off and Landing Of Everything, Pharrell Williams' G I R L, Johnny Cash's Out Among The Stars and Sam Bailey's The Power Of Love round out the top 10, in that order.
