Lorde's health is forcing the 17-year-old to take a little break from dominating the music scene and postpone her upcoming Australian tour. Yesterday (April 21), the "Team" singer announced that because of a chest infection, she'll have to return to her home country of New Zealand and recover as soon as possible.
"In case you missed the announcement earlier, i have had to postpone my australian shows because of a nasty chest infection and .. general ill health. i am so gutted to have to do this but my parents and my team stepped in telling me i needed a break after being .. non-stop since the grammys in january. we will 100% be back for this tour (most likely in november) so don't worry about that. i just need .. time to get back to full gollum girl fitness before i go out playing shows again," Lorde explained on her Twitter, in a series of tweets.
"i'm truly sorry if i let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this and i hope you can understand. x," she signed off.
The eight postponed shows follow Lorde's back-to-back weekend performances at Coachella, where she sang to upwards of 40,000 people at once.
She was set to take on Australia beginning on Thursday, April 24. Instead, the shows will take place at a date that is to-be-determined. According to Billboard, all former tickets will be honored but if fans are unable to attend the new dates, a full refund will be given.
