Whenever the Academy announces its Grammy nominees, there’s always an artist who feels some type of way when their project is left out and this time around is no different. After discovering that his latest body of work, The Album About Nothing, was snubbed from the Grammys, Wale sent out a series of jokes and sarcastic tweets, namely mentioning Kendrick Lamar. Fellow TDE rapper Jay Rock quickly issued a response to Wale’s shade on Twitter.
The “Ride Out” rapper began by responding to fans who questioned why he wasn’t nominated as well as critics who were glad to see he got shut out. Wale then sent out an interesting response to a Kendrick Lamar fan and followed up with comparisons of his albums and those released by other artists.
@MrRedMartian they slandered "gifted" for the same shit the praise other albums for

"New black soul" unless ur Wale then it's too many instruments and hard to understand — Wale (@Wale) December 7, 2015

While K Dot did not respond online, his label mate Jay Rock took up for him on social media. Shortly after Wale’s rant, the “Vice City” rhymer responded to Wale on Twitter, and said "I SEE WHY U NOT MMG SMH."
@wale I SEE WHY U NOT MMG. SMH. — Jay Rock (@jayrock) December 7, 2015
Rock’s tweet makes reference to Meek Mill telling Wale on multiple occasions that he wasn't really a member of Rick Ross’ rap collective, MMG. He most recently made the assertion after Wale chimed in on Meek’s beef with Drake during an interview with the Breakfast Club back in October.
With no response from Wale, Rock jumped back on Twitter several hours later to further address the situation.
Tired of all u suckas wit dot name n y'all mouths. Watched all yall do full interviews talkn bout another man? Aint what real ones do.
