Emma Roberts has been acting in major motion pictures and television series since she was a young girl. Although she's made a successful career out of it, the Scream Queens star revealed she's interested in making a huge change in the future. Covering the January 2016 issue of Allure, Roberts explains why she might quit acting, detailing possible career aspirations.
Emma, who just so happens to be the niece of Hollywood sweetheart Julia Roberts, has made quite a name for herself working in indie films and the popular series franchise American Horror Story. She also starred alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, like Jennifer Aniston, John Cusack, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Lange, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Johnny Depp just to name a few.
Despite the accolades she's received, Emma sees her future playing a little different than how fans might expect. The 24-year-old says she's looking to explore her talents behind the camera, instead of in front of it.
“I think as I get older, there might come a time when I don’t want to be in front of the camera anymore and want to be more behind the scenes," Emma told Allure, according to JustJared.com. "I would love to produce and maybe write."
The idea of an actor expanding their horizons in the film industry is nothing new. Many have caught the writing and directing bug, including Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Tom Hank, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Diane Keaton, Billy Bob Thorton, and more.
As for Emma, the idea of possibly directing began to become more and more of a desire while she was on set filming the Fox horror drama. She's not only excited about the new opportunities it would hold, but also the perks of not needing to be styled from head-to-toe to complete her job.
"I thought of it a lot during Scream Queens when every morning there’s full hair and makeup and heels and mini dresses," Emma told Allure. "And I thought, You know, I kind of want to show up to work one day and not care what I look like. It would be nice to just slip away for a little bit.”
Emma Roberts' Allure issue hits newsstands on Dec. 22., 2015.
