Indie band Plants and Animals from Montreal has debuted a video for new single, “Stay,” with Les Inrocks and Brooklyn Vegan. The said track is part of their upcoming Waltzed In From the Rumbling, which will be out on April 29, through Secret City Records.
The music video for "Stay" was directed by Hanako Hoshimi-Caines and it features three dancers who are busting moves in the streets of Tel-Aviv and in the woods of Montreal as a way of expressing internal feelings in a visceral manner.
“We were really curious to see what would come back if we sent the dancers a simple score asking for specific shots but ultimately asking them to pull out their chops, show us their hearts and dance the song. Then we’d edit it together and voila," said Hoshimi-Caines about the video, according to Brooklyn Vegan. "So it was about seeing three individuals really engage themselves in the making and feeling of movement through the song, in order to get a physical sense of the music.”
Meanwhile, their upcoming album is the newest release eight years after their debut album, Parc Avenue, in 2008. The new album will feature 11 soulful and inventive soundtracks.
According to a press release, the band decided to take a break after the release of The End of That in 2012 as the members had started their own families. Right now, they are back on track with a new album and tour.
"It was more like an art studio than a recording studio," said lead vocalist Warren Spicer, according to Exclaim. "A mess, pieces of songs all over the place. We had this big canvas and were constantly filling in corners here, erasing there, repainting that part, standing back and looking at the whole picture to see what we had."
Plants and Animals, which is a Candian indie-rock band composed of guitarist-vocalists Spicer and Nic Basque and drummer-vocalist Matthew Woody Woodley, released their new single, "Stay" to tease their album, with the following track listing:
