TomorrowWorld 2016 Officially Canceled Amid SFX Bankruptcy

Sad new for ravers in the Southeastern United States - TomorrowWorld has officially been canceled for 2016. The news isn't all that surprising after a spokesperson said that because of SFX's bankruptcy filing, the festival might be the odd man out as the failing EDM conglomerate tries to consolidate its debts.

In a statement on Facebook, TomorrowWorld said, "It's with a heavy heart that we inform you, TomorrowWorld will not take place in 2016. Unfortunately in the current environment, it is not possible to give you the best and unique experience you deserve."

Organizers did not close the door on more festivals in the future, ending the 40 second video that accompanied the statement with "Let's lock and cherish all the magnificent memories in our hearts, this is not farewell..."

TomorrowWorld was founded in 2013 and ran for three successive years until this past September 2015. The three-day EDM festival takes place is Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, outside of Atlanta. Over the years, names like Skrillex, Diplo, Kaskade, Martin Garrix, Zedd, A-Trak, The Magician, Porter Robinson, Steve Angello, Tchami, Adam Beyer, Armin van Buuren, Maya Jane Coles, Axwell, Dillon Francis and RL Grime have all played there.

The festival signed a deal with local authorities to keep it in the area until 2025, so they have the legal grounds to bring it back when they choose. There were some doubts after last year's public relations fiasco after bad weather caused a transportation nightmare for many attendees who couldn't get access to their cars and were stranded without a way to leave the festival and no organized shuttles to make it to their hotels nearby.
