Steve Angello has released the latest music video for his new artist album Wild Youth. Now he has chosen to bring the single "Prisoner" featuring "Cinema" writer Gary Go to life in a riveting visual experience.
The new video is another powerful plot-driven video that isn't just a bunch of live clips pieced together or god forbid shots of Steve DJing in some random place. The video focuses on the Hagberg brothers, who are deep into the sport of folkracing. They come up against a rival who wrecks one of the brother's cars, which only deepens the animosity that has existed between the two parties.
Then on a night out where they go a house party with an Avicii look-a-like and others, the bad rivals show up and punch one of the brothers in the face and drive off without standing to stay and fight the other.
"I also wanted to touch on the dark and almost maniacal side of Swedish culture. We picked the motorsport called "Folkracing" to visualize this and to tell a story around something that is fairly unknown to most people," Angello explained to Spin. He continued, "The brothers' passion and love for the sport is as big as my love for music, and I am very proud of the end result of this project."
Though all of the stories are different, this is similar to his video for "The Ocean," which hones in on a boxer and his struggle to try and navigate the very bloody world of local boxing, while also working a job in a food processing plant and raising a young daughter. The stories of struggle and family are those that Steve seems to have latched onto as a father of a young daughter himself.
Steve Angello released his 13-track album Wild Youth on Jan. 22. This is the latest video to emerge from that album.
