No matter what he may want to believe, Jack White has quite a bit in common with The Black Keys. Both rock acts topped the Billboard charts, stared out in two-man bands and they have new food items named after them. Today (June 19), California burger chain Umami Burger has created The Black Keys Akron Burger, named after the "Fever" band's Ohio hometown.
According to Radio.com, Umami Burger will be serving the beefy dish as a part of its "Artist Series," which has also released burgers inspired by Mayer Hawthorne and Slash.
But what does The Black Keys Akron Burger contain?
In addition to a hearty beef patty, the sandwich will also include a Velveeta cheese fondue, "secret sauce," yellow mustard, chopped onion and dill pickles.
It's not quite a Galley Boy from Akron chain Swenson's, but the burger sounds tasty enough...
The Black Keys Akron Burger will start its run at Umami Burger locations nationwide beginning July 1 and cost $13. $1 from each sandwich sold will go to The Black Keys Alfred McMoore Memorial Endowment Fund at the Akron Community Foundation. The organization brings consistent money to people in the Northeast Ohio city battling mental health issues, named after the man who inspired the band's name.
Umami Burger is also teaming up with The Black Keys by offering fans the chance to win tickets to the band's upcoming Los Angeles show and plenty of signed swag.
This is the second piece of food-related rock news this week. Yesterday, Australian ice cream chain Gelato Messina announced a new flavor entitled the Jack N' White, obviously named after Lazaretto musician Jack White.
