Rumors about Axl Rose joining AC/DC had been around for some time and was even denied by Noel Gallagher but new update on the speculation reveals that it is indeed true that Rose will take the place of Brian Johnson for the band's tour.
Johnson could no longer join the band due to hearing issues and he was forced by his doctors to stop playing, take a rest and abruptly quit touring. With that, AC/DC needed a replacement to continue with their tour.
“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing," the band said in a statement according to Evening Standard.
“We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”
The announcement of the band came before Guns N' Roses performed in Coachella. Prior to the kick off of the rock band's Not In This Lifetime tour, Rose will join AC/DC first for their Rock or Bust European tour that will start on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal. Rolling Stone also released the dates of the band's tour.
