While DMX has more notably been in the news for health scares as of late, he appeared on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club radio show this past Tuesday (June 28) to talk about his upcoming album and renewed opinion of Drake. In the hour-long interview with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne, the “Up In Here” rapper also touched on his health issues and his hospitalization earlier this year.
According to Billboard, back in 2012, X didn’t mince words about Drake, saying, “I don’t like anything about Drake. I don’t like his voice, I don’t like the sh*t he talks about, I don’t like his face, I don’t like the way he walks, I don’t like his haircut, just nothing.”
But the New York rapper seems to have changed his tune since then, since Drake sampled his 1999 song “What These B*tches Want” on his Views track, “U With Me?”
During the interview on The Breakfast Club, he said on his changed opinion, “Man, another humbling experience. ‘Cause people were like, ‘Yo, you didn’t like this guy for all the wrong reasons.’ For him to take the effort first to want to use a song of mine and then be man enough to reach out and make that call, I was like, ‘Homie, hats off.’ That was a real move. I salute him for that.”
In early 2016, X ended up in the hospital after suffering an asthma attack, saying to the show hosts that, “My heart stopped for four minutes and I have asthma.”
On new music, the rapper expressed that he is always writing new rhymes and that he is “banging the music out,” while “not really waiting on anybody.”
