Frank Ocean's Brother Reacts to 'Ransom Plan' Posted on Reddit Due to Delayed Album

Frank Ocean’s brother, Ryan Breaux, has reacted to the “ransom plan” posted on a Reddit thread due to the delay of his older sibling’s album, Boys Don’t Cry. Fans are apparently so excited to see the release of Ocean’s follow-up album to 2012’s Channel Orange, that one is even willing to kidnap his younger brother and blackmail Ocean into releasing it.

Boys Don’t Cry was originally thought to be slated for release in July 2015, but when that failed to come to term it was then speculated that the real release date was July of this year. But July 2016 has come and gone, and reports that the new album would be streaming on Apple Music this past Friday (Aug. 5) were also proved false.

While it is often impossible to discern sarcasm entirely from words on a forum, the Reddit user willing to kidnap for the album posted, “Guys I have the perfect idea. Why don’t we just kidnap Ryan and not give him back until Frank drops the album?” Following responses from other users, he later added, “He’ll be fine with us, we’re responsible adults.”

Once the Reddit threads were seen, Ryan took to Twitter and responded in a series of tweets, describing himself as “shook” over the online commentary.

But theoretical plans to kidnap his brother are not the only online action that the delay of the album has sparked. While fans wait, there has been an unleashing of amusing twitter posts, videos and memes dealing with the delay.

Billboard had originally reported back in April that either a magazine or album was being released by the R&B artist, later confirmed by a representative to be both and slated for July 2016.

Thus far, all that has been released is a mystery-laden live stream of a warehouse with some music playing in the background.
