In a new interview with Charm La’Donna of My Mixtapez, Meek Mill touched on some hot topics, including his beef with Drake and his new upcoming Dreamchasers 4 mixtape. He also went back to his roots in Philadelphia and how that helped to turn him into a motivated hip-hop artist.
The beef between Meek and Drake began with a single tweet and devolved into a long series of “diss tracks.” Most people were Team Drizzy, but Meek Mill persisted in order to release more music, which lead to the process behind Dreamchasers 4. The beef was recently renewed with diss lyrics on a remix of "All The Way Up."
“I remember last year just watching everybody go against me about a diss record,” Mill said in the interview with La’Donna as reported by Billboard. “I used to look at it like ‘Yo you really think this is gonna stop me? You really think him telling me I’m going on my girlfriend’s tour is gonna stop me?’”
He further said on his new “mixtape slash album” that he has been hyping since the winter, “This mixtape right here is my re-introduction back for the people who doubted me but my inspiration was for the people who tried to bury me. At one point I was looking at the internet world looking like they were trying to bury me.”
Mill also talked about his new idea of what the word “gangsta” actually means and how he believes that it ties into success, saying, “My new definition of ‘gangsta’ is go get your mom a house, go get the person that’s been taking care of you your whole life a house, put them in a position where they don’t have to work for the rest of their life.”
He also expressed how he hopes that his message about the new definition of the word will translate to today’s youth. Mill also insinuated that he has been collaborating with rising producers in the hip-hop industry for Dreamchasers 4.
