Attendees of Pearl Jam's concert at Wrigley Field enjoyed a 90s-themed event when vocalist Eddie Vedder was joined onstage by former Chicago Bulls power forward Dennis Rodman. Aside from joining the band as it performed "Black, Red, Yellow," Rodman also carried Vedder as he sang.
Before singing "Black, Red, Yellow" from Pearl Jam's Lost Dogs compilation album, Vedder interacted with the crowd and even singled out a concert goer who was wearing a Phoenix Suns jersey. Being a longtime follower of the Bulls, the vocalist joked that even Suns fans were welcome at Pearl Jam's concert.
As the band played through "Black, Red, Yellow," which according to Rolling Stone was written about Rodman, the retired NBA played walked onstage wearing his iconic #91 Bulls jersey.
"This is DRod calling," Rodman said during the concert according to Chicago Tribune. "Guess what, brother? I'm looking for you and the boys."
As Vedder sang through the song, he stepped onto a monitor to embrace Rodman. He then jumped and swung his legs onto Rodman's left arm who cradled him briefly.
This is not the first time that Rodman joined Pearl Jam onstage. As noted by Relix, Vedder and the NBA legend are very close friends because they are fans of each other's works. Back in 1998, Rodman joined Pearl Jam onstage as they performed "Hail Hail." During that same year, the athlete made an appearance again at the band's concert in Dallas, Texas. As Pearl Jam played "Alive," Vedder rode on the shoulders of Rodman.
