Britney Spears Using VMA Appearance to Raise Money for Louisiana Flood Victims

To help Louisiana's flood victims, Britney Spears has partnered with Crowdwise and the American Red Cross for a special fundraising contest. The winners of the contest will get the opportunity to meet the pop star at the MTV Video Music Awards and own the costume that she will wear at the upcoming event.

According to the fundraiser's organizers, those who wish to participate may do so through a $10 donation. The first prize winner of the contest will receive a roundtrip airfare for two to New York City. He or she will also receive 2 tickets to attend the MTV VMAs, which will be held at the Madison Square Garden on Aug. 28.

Aside from watching the event live, the winner will also get the chance to meet Spears before her performance.

The second prize winner will receive the outfit that Spears will wear on her performance, as well as an autographed album from the singer. The winner of the first prize will be announced on Aug. 25 while the second one will be revealed on Sept. 1.

The money collected from the fundraiser will be used to provide essential supplies such as clothes, shelter, food and water to Louisiana residents who were affected by the severe flooding in the state earlier this month. According to the Rolling Stone, the devastating event destroyed more than 40,000 homes in the area and caused the deaths of over a dozen individuals.

Spears is the latest artist who joined the efforts in helping the Louisiana flood victims. This month Taylor Swift donated $1 million to the relief efforts in the state.
