The Olympics may be over, but the pride felt by a nation for their athletes or at least most of them is still being felt by its people. United States Olympic athletes are coming home to a hero's welcome (except you Ryan Lochte), doing public appearances and interviews on national television. There may even be some gift-giving on the table for these athletes. Paul Wall is stepping up to the plate for the United State Olympic team and is reportedly set to offer each medalist a set of customized gold grills.
The Houston rapper has been in the grills game a long time, becoming famous for the 2005 hit "Grillz" with Nelly. Now he wants to combine two of the flashiest things something can sport on their person - a gold mouthpiece and an Olympic medal.
He and his jewelry partner, Johnny Dang, have been running a high-end business for years that is able to stand on its own without Paul Wall's rap career. The pair want to reward all of the United States Olympic medal winners with special Rio 2016 gold grills. The grills have the 2016 olympic logo and Rio 2016 writing etched in to them.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Dang says that the offer is good for everyone who medaled, including full teams and those who won individual events like Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps. Now Phelps would have something to wear to Lil Wayne concerts. The piece would be made with 18k gold.
We will see if any of the medalists take Wall and Dang up on their offer. It really would be foolish not to get a free gold grill.
