In the wake of the release of his latest album, Blonde, Frank Ocean has listed his favorite songs on the zine for Boys Don’t Cry. Blonde was hotly anticipated following his hit album Channel Orange, released in 2012, and was finally unleashed this past Saturday (Aug. 20).
In addition to the album, Ocean released the Boys Don’t Cry zine, which has a few surprises in store, including a love letter to McDonald’s from Kanye West. On his album Ocean named the likes of Bowie, Kanye West, Jamie xx, Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, the Beatles, Andre 3000, Brian Eno and Pharrell amongst others as contributors.
Following the release of both Blonde and the zine, Ocean’s mother Katonya Breaux was telling fans not to pay eBay prices for a copy via Twitter. Her advice sparked rumors that more copies were slated to be released following those distributed at pop-up shops. Prices on eBay reached nearly $800 due to the fact that so few were released.
