She may be world famous, but Taylor Swift chose not to opt out of her civic duty and sat on a jury in Nashville on Monday (Aug. 29). Swift was noticeably absent from the MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday (Aug. 28) because she had to report to a Nashville courtroom the next day.
According to report released by TMZ, Swift had been considered to sit on a jury for an aggravated rape and kidnapping trial, but was dismissed from the list of potential jurors. Stereogum released a report that confirmed this.
Thus far, the “Blank Space” singer hasn’t released any official statements about her experience sitting on a jury, but interestingly enough she missed out on jabs thrown at her by Kanye West at the VMAs ceremony. Some updates of Swift doing jury duty were posted to Twitter following her appearance.
In other Swift news, she recently donated $1 million towards victims of the flood in Louisiana. The city holds some relevance to Swift because it was where her extraordinarily successful 1989 World Tour began. She expressed that she chose to donate because of how kind fans were to her during her tour.
