Drake announced that he has “six, maybe seven new songs” recorded during a stop in Washington on his Summer Sixteen Tour. The announcement took place at the end of his Tacoma show, where he thanked the crowd before telling them the good news.
“I been on this tour and I’ve been recording new music,” he said. “I’m about like maybe six or seven new songs in. Just getting warmed up.”
He continued with, “I don’t know where they’re going to end up or what it’s going to be, but I can’t wait to come back to motherf*cking Tacoma and play all that sh*t for you.”
Earlier this month, Kayne West confirmed that he and Drake are working on a collaborative album, which follows his album with Jay Z, Watch The Throne. The “Famous” rapper confirmed the project during an interview with Vogue for his Yeezy Season 4 show. The rumors about the two collaborating began when a billboard featuring both of their music company logos was spotted in Los Angeles.
During the interview, West exposed that the two have been hitting the studio together, saying, “We’re just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio. We’re working on an album, so there’s some exciting things coming up soon.”
While West confirmed the collaboration, he did not drop any further hints as to a release date or the name. Drake also co-wrote “30 Hours” on The Life Of Pablo, recently released by West according to NME.
Billboard noted that the two have talked about working together long before his interview with Vogue, and his song “Wolves” from The Life Of Pablo album was reportedly inspired by Drake.
