Taylor Swift has said that she felt “violated” during the DJ-groping incident at a pre-concert meet-and-greet in 2013. The singer is currently involved in a lawsuit to seal the photo, which reportedly depicts the DJ grabbing her. A judge granted her request this past Friday (Oct. 21), but the transcript of her deposition about the incident from July 26 is available to the public. Throughout the deposition, Swift had to describe the incident a few times.
The DJ in question is David Mueller, a Denver radio personality, who allegedly groped the “Bad Blood” singer while they were posing for a photo backstage. Mueller was fired from his job at KTGO radio station only two days after he reportedly grabbed Swift. The DJ sued Swift back in 2015, and asserted that she made a false accusation that caused him to lose his job.
The singer’s lawyers are arguing that the photo should be sealed because “it is all but assured that the photograph will be shared for scandalous and prurient interests,” and has the power to influence a jury.
Billboard reports the statement Swift gave in her videotaped deposition, where she said, “Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, he took his hand and put it up my dress and grabbed onto my a** cheek and no matter how much I scooted over it was still there. It was completely intentional, I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
She further said, “I remember being frantic, distressed, feeling violated in a way I had never experienced before.”
The DJ also ended up suing Swift for slander, saying that it was an accident and it was actually his former boss who groped her. She countersued him for assault and battery, asserting that she would donate any money received to organizations that benefit women who have been sexually assaulted.
In good news for Swift, it was recently announced that the singer will be headlining a pre-Super Bowl concert following a deal with AT&T. The company will be placing Swift at the forefront of their artist roster for years, and will include both content and performances from the singer. The Super Bowl event is reportedly just one of the opportunities that will be available to Swift in the coming months.
