Katy Perry Encouraging Students to Vote for Hillary Clinton

Katy Perry is encouraging UNLV students to vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. This past Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22) many were surprised by a knock on the door from Perry, who was stumping for the Democratic candidate.

She was reportedly wearing bright red lipstick and a shirt that said “Nasty Woman” as she made her rounds around campus. “Nasty Woman” is the current rallying cry of Clinton supporters after Donald Trump said it during the presidential debate this past Wednesday night, Oct. 19.

Billboard reports that the singer told a group of young women, “We’re out here campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Ever heard of her? Because there’s no other alternative. We need our issues heard, we need our bodies taken care of, we need all that choice.”

Perry is amongst many celebrities who are supporting Clinton, including Miley Cyrus, who was originally a Bernie Sanders advocate.

The Voice coach joined Clinton’s running mate, Senator Tim Kaine, at a rally this past Saturday (Oct. 22) in Virginia and went door to door on the George Mason University campus to tell students of Clinton’s plans.

The National are also performing at a “Love Trumps Hate” initiative in Cincinnati on Nov. 2. Jennifer Lopez and Jon Bon Jovi have also joined in the push to elect Clinton and will be performing at campaign events in the last few weeks leading up to the election. The campaign scheduling site reports that Jovi will be performing in Pittsburgh on Oct. 27, as well as in Tampa on Nov. 5. Lopez will be performing in Miami on Oct. 29.
