Carlos Whittaker is an artist, pastor, author, social media junkie and husband. He's also a dad to two tween girls. Parenting is hard enough in this day and age, but parenting tween girls - that's a challenge for the ages! Between the popular media and the popular kids telling them who they should be, how they should act and what they should look like, helping them figure out who God created them to be is not an easy task.
Carlos heard Colbie Caillat's song, "Try" and was so impressed by her lyrics to young women everywhere that he wrote her a letter on his popular blog, thanking her for bringing a positive message to the masses.
Part of what Carlos said really resonated with me, as the mother of two teenage daughters ...
And we pray someone they look up to will let them know that their life is worth more than their boobs and image.
So when you released your single “TRY”, I literally teared up.
They have so much pressure to fit in.
From the song - the message we should ALL hear!
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to, give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
All I can say is "Amen!"
