Taylor Swift returns to Bluebird Cafe in Nashville to perform at the very stage where was first discovered in 2004.
The 25-year-old singer surprised the diners on Saturday, March 31, when she appeared in an impromptu concert and performed some of her most popular tracks. About 40 patrons witnessed the performance on Easter eve.
Still A Small-Town Girl
According to The Tennessean, prolific country songwriter Craig Wiseman top-billed the show, but the audience had the surprise of a lifetime when he welcomed the "Delicate" singer onstage.
Wiseman, who has written songs for Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton, met Swift at a charity show when she was a teenager.
"I wanted to say a big thank you to the Bluebird Cafe," the 28-year-old singer-songwriter said to the crowd. "I think any songwriter in town would echo my sentiments and say that this is kind of the only place where this exists — this particular place where you get to come and hear the writer's take on the songs they've put out into the world.
Swift began performing at the venue shortly after she moved to Nashville from her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania. She was discovered when she was in eighth grade and signed to Big Machine Records. She released her eponymous debut album in 2006.
During the performance, Wiseman also shared some stories about Swift during a CMT afterparty that was sponsored by Fireball Whiskey. The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame recalled that he showed Swift around the party, but what she really wanted to see was the shot room where she took shots after shots of whiskey.
"For the rest of the party, I would go get a shot of Fireball ... and snake my hand through the people (on this balcony) in her general direction," Wiseman told the crowd. " don't even know if she took it, but it disappeared.
The "End Game" singer said the shots of whiskey were not the only ones that disappeared from the party. She confessed that she and Ed Sheeran took home the large inflatable bottle of Fireball from the party that Wiseman wanted to take home.
Before she left, Wiseman gave Swift a shot of Fireball whiskey for old time's sake.
'reputation' Stadium Tour
Swift is gearing out for a major North American tour this summer to promote and perform songs from her latest album reputation. The singer announced earlier this year that Camilla Cabello and Charlie XCX will join the trek that will begin next month in Glendale, Arizona.
The reputation Stadium Tour will have about 40 stops in major cities across North America and another 7 stops in venues in the United Kingdom, including her performance at the BBC The Biggest Weekend in May.
Fans can now purchase tickets via Swift's official website and Ticketmaster.
