Drake Considers Making Music Incorporating ‘Fortnite’ But Only If Epic Games Does This

Drake is willing to jump on board the Fortnite bandwagon and release a song about it on his next album. However, he has one request.

Drake on 'Fortnite'

The Canadian rapper, in a visit to Tyler "Ninja" Blevins' Twitch stream of the popular video game, asked game developer and publisher Epic Games to add his "Hotline Bling" dance as an emote.

"Dude, you gotta put some Fortnite lingo on the album," Belvins suggested.

"It has to happen. It's just gotta be right away," Drake responded. "I say when Epic gives me the emote, when epic gives me the 'Hotline Bling' emote, I'll do it. Until then, I'm on strike."

For the uninitiated, Fortnite is a co-op sandbox survival game in which a player heads on to various missions to collect resources, build fortifications, construct weapons, and traps to protect the survivors from zombie-like creatures. The game is often touted as a cross between Minecraft and Left 4 Dead.

Meanwhile, "Hotline Bling" is Drake's viral 2016 track from his album Views. The song is about an ex-girlfriend who left for the city and became a loose woman. Aside from the lyrics and the beat, the song became insanely popular because of Drake's rather ridiculous dance moves that turned into a popular meme.

The music video now has over 1 billion views on YouTube and has been parodied by Saturday Night Live.

Epic Games Responds To Drake

Unfortunately, it seems like Epic Games is not interested in becoming a muse to one of the most popular rappers in the music industry right now. In a statement to Kotaku, the video game publisher said it has no comment about the offer.

Epic Games Emote Contest

Polygon reports that Epic Games held a contest wherein players can film a clip of themselves performing a dance move and get a chance for it to be added to the game. Submission should be posted on Twitter with the hashtag #BoogieDown to enter.

Epic Games will then go through the submissions, pick the best, and add it to the game as an emote.

Unfortunately, the contest ended on Tuesday, April 10, so it might be too late for Drake to submit the music video for "Hotline Bling" for consideration.

Here are some of the most popular entries on Twitter.
