Scarlett Johansson will release an EP with singer-songwriter Pete Yorn. The release date of their forthcoming project, Apart will be on June 1 via Capital.
Apart is not Johansson and Yorn's first collaboration. In 2009, the two artists also teamed up for Breakup. Following the duo's announcement, Yorn released a statement about their new EP.
The album will feature four songs, which includes "Bad Dreams" and "Tomorrow." The latter was originally recorded for Yorn's 2016 album Arranging Time.
"If Breakup was dealing with an unraveling relationship,Apart is dealing with the aftermath. It acknowledges the array of heavy emotions that come up living separate lives,"said Yorn.
Pete Yorn Dishes On Scarlett Johansson Collaboration
Two years ago, Yorn opened up about his collaboration with Johansson.
"I just keep an open mind. The album with Scarlett was an inspiration that came out of nowhere and once it came I was like, 'Alright, this could be cool," said Yorn.
Johansson, who has been in the film industry for decades, focused more on her singing career in 2008. At that time, she dropped "Anywhere I Lay My Head." Years later, she started a girl group called the Singles with Este Haim.
Some of Johansson's songs are "Set It All Free," "Relator," "Falling Down," "The Moon Song," "Trust In Me," "Song for Jo," "One Whole Hour," "Last Goodbye," "Town With No Cheer," "I Don't Wanna," "No One Knows I'm Gone," "Fannin Street," "I Wish I Was in New Orleans," "Green Grass," "As I Lay My Head," and "I Don't Know What To Do."
Scarlett Johansson Not Bothered By Critics
In 2009, the Avengers: Infinity War star dished on her music career and said that she is immune to criticisms. The actress received negative comments after she released "Anywhere I Lay My Head." They thought that Johansson was not really serious about her career in music.
When she dropped "Break Up," things seemingly changed, and fan perceptions also improved.
"I figured, you know, most actors are multitalented. They've got to be able to do a lot of things and they probably have some ability to sing... I don't hope for anything. Of course, whenever you put something out you hope that people are into it. But I don't really validate myself through critical praise," said Johansson.
Despite the initial criticisms, the actress said that she is very proud of her first single "Anywhere I Lay My Head."
