Ariana Grande has opened up about her previous relationship with Mac Miller and called it "toxic" in a lengthy statement on Twitter.
On Wednesday, May 23, the young singer-songwriter replied to a fan tweet sympathetic to the rapper and his recent arrest for driving under the influence. Miller and Grande a few weeks back after two years of dating.
Now, the "No Tears Left To Cry" singer has revealed the reason behind the split.
Ariana Grande Leaves 'Toxic' Relationship
A fan on Twitter weighed in on the rumors that Grande is currently seeing Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson shortly after her breakup with Miller. In the same tweet, the fan also mentioned the recent arrest of the hip-hop star who, earlier this month, wrecked his car on a power pole and fled the scene of the crime.
The tweet seemed to suggest that Miller was so heartbroken about the breakup and painted Grande as the bad guy, but the 24-year-old singer is not having it.
"[H]own absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them," the "Dangerous Woman" wrote on a statement. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be."
Grande said the relationship turned "scary," but did not publicly address the situation until now. She also said that she still cares about her ex and hopes that he eventually gets better.
The fan immediately apologized for jumping to conclusions.
Ariana Grande's New Boyfriend
On Monday, May 21, People reported that Grande is currently seeing Davidson whom she first met back in 2016 when she hosted Saturday Night Live. Insiders reveal that the relationship is still in its early stages, adding that "it's very casual" at the moment.
Neither Grande nor Davidson has confirmed the rumored romance. However, People also revealed that the comedian was present when Grande performed her new track, "No Tears Left To Cry," at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 20.
"After Ariana's performance, they were backstage and he had his arm around her," said the source. "They seemed very lovey-dovey. He was hanging out with her and her friends with his arm around her. She seemed quite smitten."
Another source told E! News that Davidson makes the Grammy-nominated singer laugh, a relief after her toxic split with Miller.
"She loves that Pete makes her laugh and they share a common sense of humor," revealed the source. "They are both happy together and Ariana is in a better place since splitting with Mac."
Cosmopolitan, however, reported that the relationship might be more serious than people thought. Grande and Davidson seemed to have gotten matching cloud tattoos on their middle fingers.
