Heidi Klum gives her golden buzzer to 15-year-old contestant Makayla Phillips on America's Got Talent season 13. The supermodel was impressed with the singer's singing chops during her audition.
Phillips sang her own rendition of Demi Lovato's hit song "Warrior." Prior to her performance, judge Mel B interviewed the student briefly. She revealed that her parents, relatives, and friends accompanied her to her audition.
During her performance, the judges were seen smiling from ear to ear while listening to Phillips. The young girl seemed unfazed by the massive crowd that cheered for her nonstop. Phillips belted out her high notes and reached them flawlessly, and this encouraged Klum to give her a standing ovation.
Klum gave Phillips her golden buzzer after praising her and before the other judges could even give the contestant their comments.
"I think you're absolutely incredible. I love the whole package. I love your smile. I love how your project to everyone," said Klum before hitting the golden buzzer.
Klum ran up to the stage to give Phillips a tight hug. The supermodel then declared that she might have just found the winner of America's Got Talent season 13.
Other Golden Buzzer Recipients
However, this year's competition is far from over. Judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, and Howie Mandel also chose their golden buzzer recipients in the previous audition episode. Host Tyra Banks also joined in on the fun when she picked Zurcaroh as her golden buzzer bet.
Other than the dance group, all of this year's golden buzzer recipients are singers. Cowell picked Michael Ketterer after he sang "To Love Somebody" during his audition.
Mandel followed his gut in choosing Courtney Hardwin following her shocking performance of "Hard To Handle." Mel B chose Amanda Mena after she sang Aretha Franklin's hit song "(You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman."
Judge Cuts
All five golden buzzer contestants will go straight to the live shows on America's Got Talent season 13. This will air in the coming weeks. Starting next Tuesday, the contestants who passed the first round of audition will once again perform in the Judge Cuts round.
In this round, Cowell, Klum, Mel B, and Mandel will be joined by a guest judge in choosing which acts will head to the live shows. Half of the contestants will be sent home, while the other half will compete for America's vote and potentially become this year's winner.
