Firefly Music Festival announces its dates for 2019. The producers of Coachella also purchased the massive music event.
The founders of Firefly Music Festival sold the Dover event to AEG Presents, the company that runs Coachella in California. The move comes after AEG Presents and Goldenvoice teamed up with Red Frog Events.
Melissa Ormond's Statement
Melissa Ormond, the chief operating officer of the festival, released a statement regarding the recent venture.
"Red Frog identified a fantastic site, a great partner in Dover International Speedway and had a vision that they executed really, really well. Very few people - even those of us who have been in the music business for decades - are launching successful festivals in Year One and Year Two. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what they did. The timing was right for both of us," said Ormond.
In 2014, AEG first partnered with Red Frog, and they organized a festival with Paul McCartney as the headlining act. The show gave Firefly its first 90,000-person crowd.

The artists that will perform at the festival have not yet been revealed. This year's headliners include Kendrick Lamar, The Killers, Eminem, and Arctic Monkeys. This year's festival took place on June 14 to 17 at the Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware.
