The Killers performed their popular song "Mr. Brightside" on the rooftop during the halftime of Monday Night Football.
Before performing, frontman Brandon Flowers greeted the audience and the Raiders with: "It's our pleasure to welcome the Raiders to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada." "I think we've got just the song for the occasion," before bursting into the debut song from "Hot Fuss," released in 2004.
This was during the Las Vegas Raiders' match against the New Orleans Saints. This marks the Raiders' first game in their new Allegiant Stadium. For "The Killers" fans who missed it, Raiders uploaded the band's performance on their YouTube Channel.
"Mr. Brightside" was one of the most popular songs back in the 2000's. On top of that, The Killers won "Best New Artist in a Video" and "Best International Video" for the song's music video. The lyrics deal with jealousy and infidelity even though the track seems to have an upbeat feel.
The band was formed in Las Vegas by vocalist Flowers, lead guitarist Dave Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. They were able to record six albums so far, all of which went up to the music charts: Hot Fuss in 2004, Sam's Town in 2006, Day & Age in 2008, Battle Born in 2012, Wonderful Wonderful in 2017, and most recently Imploding the Mirage.
Their sixth studio album was freshly released last August 21, 2020, and released two singles from the album. The lead single was "Caution" last March and the second one was "My Own Soul's Warning" last July.
The band is not stopping yet as they are already working on their seventh studio album. They estimated to have it completed after ten months and promised that it would be better than "Imploding the Mirage," even though Stoermer is recovering from hearing damage, and Keuning is on hiatus.
