No matter how much you despise him, Kodak Black continues to be a favorite of many rap fans, including genre icons like Drake.
On Monday night (January 10), the Florida rapper went live on Instagram, where the 6 God showered love on Kodak, proclaiming him a hero not just of this generation, but also of the future to come.
In his Instagram Live, Drake wrote a comment that Kodak pinned for the world to see.
"You really all that for this generation and the next one if we being honest," Drizzy typed.
This is not the first time Drake has shown his admiration for Kodak Black. Kodak's "SKRT" was included on the Toronto megastar's OVO Sound Radio program back in 2015, providing a significant boost to the then-rising rapper's career at the time.
When Drake was asked about the Pompano Beach native's Dying To Live in 2018, he said it was one of his favorite efforts from the previous five years. "Your purpose is on fire," he said to Kodak in a text message.
The affection is definitely mutual; Kodak Black revealed his wish for Drake (or Nas) to serve as his mentor earlier this year.
However, the Grammy-winning artist's comment on Black's Instagram Live wasn't met with the same hype he thought he did on Twitter.
Fans are 'unsure'
With the grand gesture that Drake has shown to Kodak, some fans weren't so sure that Kodak is really "The Next One". One user tweeted: "drake tells Playboi Carti he's the [GOAT] for this generation. Is Aubrey speaking faxxx or fiction???,"
"Kodak Black isn't any different from those Fresh & Fit weirdos. Drake a weirdo for co-signing that nigg-," another one said.
This user even pointed out that there are a lot that Drake has claimed too, "Every other month drake calling someone the GOAT for dis generation ... which is it AUBREY HUHHH???".
While this user thinks Drizzy is joking.
The success of 'Super Gremlin'
On the heels of a significant triumph for Kodak Black, whose tune "Super Gremlin" soared into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday, Drake's Instagram Live praise comes as the rapper continues to build his brand.
In this week's list, the song, which was released in October and came on the Sniper Gang Presents Syko Bob & Snapkatt: Nightmare Babies album, climbed from No. 16 to No. 10 in the overall rankings.
In addition to becoming Kodak's first top ten success in four years, "Super Gremlin" also marks his third overall top ten hits, after 2018's "ZEZE" (which peaked at No. 2) and 2017's "Tunnel Vision" (No. 6).
