ver the past decades, iconic bands "Pearl Jam" and "Motley Crue" are known for harmlessly insulting each other with a few jokes, but frontman Eddie Vedder's recent dig may have gone too far; what did he tell Tommy Lee?
According to Metal Sucks, the singer recently had a show with his "Earthlings" backing band, including "Red Hot Chili Peppers" member Chad Smith.
Elsewhere on the show, Vedder took a dig at Lee by insulting his drum kit, saying, "That drum kit - that silver, beautiful machine that he is the engine of - does not need to elevate or rotate to do its job. Let me just point that out." (watch the video below)
As Smith does his solo drum act, Vedder opened up about the drumkit, and fans started going wild during their show on NJPAC.
The outlet noted that Vedder was talking about Lee as he is popularly known for his stunts, like playing the drums upside down and many more.
Before the recent insults, the two bands had been embroiled in a more serious drama.
According to Consequence, their issue began when Vedder recalled his time working on a venue in San Diego, California.
Speaking to the New York Times, the musician said he'd end up being at a show that he never wanted to go to, specifically "bands that monopolized late-'80s MTV. The metal bands that - I'm trying to be nice."
He named "Motely Crue" among the musical acts and even dropped an f-bomb during the interview.
The rival band Nikki Sixx later took online to express his thoughts on Vedder's controversial remarks, saying "Pearl Jam" is one of the most boring bands in history.
"Pearl Jam" seemingly responded to the drama by also taking to their Twitter account to share a post, saying, "We love our bored fans."
Today, Vedder is currently on tour around the United States with his "Earthling" backing band. He also recently released his latest solo album of the same band name.
On the other hand, "Pearl Jam" carried is expected to perform all across Europe starting this summer of 2022. They will also announce the makeup dates for their canceled North American tour in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
