Drakeo the Ruler felt the love of his fans for the last time before reaching his final resting place.
On Tuesday, Drakeo the Ruler's fans, family, and friends came together to remember the rapper's life at the Greater Emmanuel Temple Church in Lynwood. The event was held nearly two months since he was fatally stabbed in December.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Drakeo the Ruler's mother Darrylene Corniel spoke about how reality starts to sink in.
"It really hit me last night. Reality is setting in. This is my baby," she said. "My son had class, and I wanted him to go out with class."
His brother, Ralfy the Plug, was spotted sitting in the front row inside the chapel. The place was also embellished with life-size images of the rapper.
Following the funeral service, fans shared outpouring love to the rapper through heartfelt messages online.
One said, "Long live Drakeo The Ruler long live Nipsey Hussle they made la look good."
"Bout to bury one of my closest friends in LA. I told his mom, Drakeo owed me nothing and gave me everything out here. He gave me respect and love and put me on new money and new friends. Drakeo the Ruler changed my life. I love you foolie, watch over me," another wrote.
What Happened to Drakeo the Ruler?
In December, attendees of the "Once Upon A Time in LA" witnessed a horrifying event after a group of concertgoers attacked and stabbed Drakeo the Ruler in the neck.
According to the initial reports released by the Los Angeles Police Department, they received a call about a man about 30 years old who was stabbed around 8:40 p.m. Officer Orris of the LAPD later revealed that a source "with direct knowledge of the incident" confirmed that Drakeo the Ruler was the victim, adding that he was left gravely injured.
He was still rushed to a hospital, but he did not make it due to his injuries.
His mother expressed her desire to file a lawsuit, while his 5-year-old son, Caiden Caldwell, through his mother, Tianna Purtue, already submitted a separate case.
Vulture noted that, aside from Live Nation, the event's co-promoters have also been named in the filing, including Bobby Dee Presents, C3 Presents, and Jeff Shuman. The Los Angeles Football Club, which owns the concert venue, was also named one of the defendants.
