The post-punk band "Gang of Four" was caught in a terrible accident yesterday while en route to their next gig.
Composed of founding members Jonathan King, Hugo Burnham, and Sara Lee, they were in the middle of their North American tour when former Slint bassist David Pajo joined them for guitar.
Yesterday, when the band was on the way to the Toronto Horseshoe Tavern, they were interrupted by an accident prompting them to share on social media the unfortunate news.
The band's tour bus was caught on fire in the middle of the road. The team shared photos of firefighters tending to the blazing bus.
Sharing to their 1 million followers on Twitter, the band "regretfully cancelled" their Toronto concert at the Horseshoe Tavern.
Apologizing for the inconvenience, the team will contact the ticket holders of the band's Canadian concert with more information.
As of writing, Gang of Four's management has yet to disclose if any band members have sustained any injuries.
It would be the first time people would see the band since the death of their fellow Gang of Four member Andy Gill in February 2020.
Skipping the Toronto concert, the band will resume their ongoing North American tour on March 6 at Sommerville, Massachusetts's Crystal Ballroom.
Current touring lineup
In addition to founding members Jon King and Hugo Burnham, the Gang of Four's new touring lineup will feature bassist Dave Allen, who will not attend the gigs due to personal circumstances.
However, according to a press statement, the guitarist "remains an essential and vital part of the band." Sara Lee, a former member of the Gang of Four, has been reassigned to the bassist position.
Sharing the stage with "Interpol" and "Yeah Yeah Yeahs" previously, the band's current guitarist, David Pajo, has expressed "tremendous joy, humility, and appreciation" knowing that he will be performing with Gang of Four for the upcoming shows, who he considers lifelong heroes.
The band's 1977 to 1981 box set of early songs released last December 2020 is the basis of Gang of Four's North American tour.
The 2020 collection includes a double long play of the "never officially released" version of their "Live at American Indian Center 1980" and remastered versions of their 1979 "Entertainment!" and 1981 "Solid Gold."
